Rovnováha, or equilibrium, is a fundamental concept found across many scientific disciplines, referring to a state of balance where opposing forces or influences are equal and opposite. In physics, it describes a situation where the net force and net torque acting on an object are zero, resulting in no acceleration or angular acceleration. This means an object at rest will remain at rest, and an object in motion will continue with constant velocity. Examples include a book resting on a table or a pendulum hanging still.

In chemistry, chemical equilibrium occurs when the rate of the forward reaction equals the rate of the reverse reaction in a reversible process. This doesn't mean the reaction has stopped, but rather that the concentrations of reactants and products remain constant over time. This dynamic state is crucial for understanding chemical reactions and predicting their outcomes.

The concept of rovnováha also extends to biology, particularly in the context of homeostasis. Organisms maintain a stable internal environment, despite external changes, through a complex interplay of regulatory mechanisms. This internal balance ensures that physiological functions remain within optimal ranges for survival.

In economics, market equilibrium is reached when the quantity of a good or service supplied equals the quantity demanded at a specific price. At this point, there is no tendency for the price or quantity to change, assuming all other factors remain constant. Rovnováha, therefore, signifies a stable state achieved through the cancellation or balancing of competing factors.
