RollerClamp is a type of mechanical clamping device designed to hold workpieces securely during machining, welding, assembly, and inspection. It uses one or more rollers that press against the workpiece surface to generate frictional grip, distributing clamping force over a broader area and reducing the risk of denting or marring compared with point-contact clamps.

A typical RollerClamp consists of a fixed base or mounting plate, a movable clamp bar or carriage, and roller assemblies arranged in a line or arc. Each roller is mounted on a pivot or sled and can be adjusted for height and alignment. A manual handle, screw, or pneumatic actuator applies the clamping force, pressing the roller set against the workpiece while the opposite side is restrained by the clamp bar or a secondary jaw.

RollerClamp designs vary in scale and actuation. Manual versions use a lever or thumbscrew; larger or automation-ready models can employ pneumatic or hydraulic cylinders for rapid clamping. Some configurations combine multiple rollers with adjustable spacing to accommodate different thicknesses and surface geometries.

Common applications include securing flat plates, boards, sheets, and small profile sections in fixtures, jigs, and assembly stations. They are valued for fast cycle times, reduced surface damage, and the ability to accommodate minor workpiece misalignment due to distributed contact.

Limitations include a restricted clamping area defined by the roller span, potential wear on roller surfaces, and the need for compatible surface geometry. Soft or highly flexible materials may still deform under pressure, and maintenance is required to keep rollers clean and aligned.
