rindías

Rindías is a fictional archipelago and cultural region in the western seas of the world of Eldara. It comprises twelve inhabited islands and several islets, connected by ferries and shallow sea lanes. The name derives from the rindian language, in which rind means "edge" or "shore."

The landscape ranges from mangrove coastlines and coral reefs to volcanic highlands and cloud forests. The climate is tropical along the southern coasts and more temperate in the northern highlands, with a marked dry season in parts of the archipelago. The region sits on a tectonically active belt, giving rise to geothermal springs.

Inhabited for millennia, rindian communities developed canoe-based trade networks and distinctive art forms. Contact with distant empires began in the 15th century, followed by colonial domination. After a series of uprisings, Rindías achieved independence and formed a federal republic in 1826. Since then, it has maintained constitutional norms and a tradition of maritime neutrality.

The population is about 2.4 million. The official language is Rindiano; other widely spoken tongues include Nalí and Kora. The culture emphasizes seafaring crafts, weaving, and music featuring bamboo flutes. The annual Festival of Tides celebrates sea trade, agriculture, and local storytelling.

Key sectors include sustainable fisheries, spice cultivation, timber, and ecotourism. The government promotes renewable energy, with investments in tidal and solar power. Protected areas cover roughly 10% of the land and sea.

Rindías operates as a federal parliamentary republic. The national capital is Liranda; the unicameral Assembly seats six provincial delegations. Provinces: Airoa, Belmar, Cenda, Duno, Eska, and Frinth.
