Resource ensuring is a set of practices and policies designed to maintain the availability, reliability, and accessibility of critical resources required for a system's operation. These resources can be physical (machinery, energy), digital (compute time, data stores, software licenses), human (skilled personnel), or financial (budgetary reserves).

It is applied across sectors such as manufacturing, utilities, information technology, healthcare, and public services. Core goals are to prevent disruptions, shorten recovery times, and sustain performance under varying conditions.

Key components include risk assessment and resource mapping; redundancy and diversification; proactive procurement and inventory management; capacity planning and demand forecasting; monitoring, alerting, and incident response; contingency and crisis planning; governance and supplier management; and metrics that track availability, service levels, and resilience.

Common methods involve quantitative models for inventory optimization, reliability engineering, and resilience analysis; operational practices like multi-sourcing, strategic reserves, and service-level agreements; and technologies such as telemetry, monitoring, auto-scaling, and geographically distributed deployment.
