ratelsluiting
A ratel is a type of clutch mechanism used in mechanical devices. It is characterized by its ability to transmit torque in one direction while allowing free rotation in the opposite direction. This unidirectional engagement is achieved through a system of pawls and a toothed wheel or a similar toothed surface. When the driven component rotates in the intended direction, the pawls engage with the teeth, locking the components together and enabling power transmission. In the reverse direction, the pawls ride over the teeth, allowing the components to rotate freely without resistance.
Ratels are commonly found in applications where backdrivability is undesirable or where a positive locking action
