Raporointia is a genus of fungus-ivorous snails that belong to the family Punctidae. Native to Australia, these small land snails are characterized by their distinctive shell morphology and behavioral adaptations to their unique diet of fungi.

The name "Raporointia" comes from the Aboriginal language, referring to a specific type of fungus that is a common food source for these snails. Raporointia snails have evolved a range of specialized traits that allow them to extract nutrients from fungi, including a long, thin proboscis and a pair of radula (tonguelike structures) with scores that resemble those of gastropod predators.

These snails are largely nocturnal and have been observed at night, using their sensitive tentacles to forage for fungi in the dark. The Raporointia species are relatively small, with most snail species in this genus measured between 5 to 10 millimeters in length.

Raporointia snails have been found in Arnhem Land and the Kimberley regions of Northern Australia, where they inhabit subtropical to tropical ecosystems. They tend to thrive in environments with high levels of fungal growth, often coinciding with regions of heavy rainfall and nutrient-rich soils.

The unique diet of Raporointia snails has sparked scientific interest in their evolutionary adaptations and the ecosystem services they provide as decomposers and fungal consumers. However, given the limited availability of detailed research on these snails, more studies are necessary to fully understand the ecological relationships and diversity of the Raporointia genus.
