Content and form: A radioindslag may take the form of a field report, an interview excerpt, a feature, or a sound montage. It may be 15 seconds to several minutes long and is designed to be understandable even if listened to without visual cues. It often uses a clear lead, quotes, ambient sound, and a concluding wrap-up.

Production: It is usually planned in advance as part of a program’s structure, researched by a journalist or producer, recorded with or without a presenter, and edited to fit the time slot. Voice-overs, sound effects, and music are used to support the story. The piece should be intelligible out of context and suited for broadcast.

Usage and style: Radioindslag is used to provide the audience with a tangible connection to a topic, often highlighting human-interest angles or expert opinion, and may be aired as part of news bulletins, morning shows, or feature programs. In Danish media practice, it is one of several possible insertion types within a program.
