quedaría

Quedaría is the conditional simple form of the Spanish verb quedar, used for the first person singular (yo) and the third person singular (él, ella, usted). In general, it expresses what would happen under certain conditions, or it can soften statements to convey politeness, proposals, or probability about present or future situations. Because queda has several meanings—remain, be located, fit or suit, be arranged or scheduled, or be left for later—quedaría inherits those senses in its conditional sense, such as would remain, would fit, would be scheduled, or would be left for tomorrow.

Usage examples illustrate its range. With hypothetical conditions, it often appears in si-clauses or in conversational offers: “Si tuviera tiempo, quedaría contigo” (If I had time, I would stay with you). It can express a prediction or possibility: “La agencia quedaría disponible para ese día” (The agency would be available for that day). In evaluative or stylistic contexts, it means “would suit” or “would look good”: “Ese color quedaría bien” (That color would suit me/you well). Another common use describes an arrangement or postponement: “La cita quedaría para mañana” (The appointment would be for tomorrow) or “la tarea quedaría para después” (the task would be left for later).

Quedaría is often contrasted with the imperfect subjunctive quedara/quedase, which marks past-hypothetical or contrary-to-fact conditions: “Si quisiera, quedaría” vs. “Si quisiera, quedara/quedase…” The choice depends on whether the speaker is dealing with a present-future hypothetical or a past hypothetical scenario.
