Pyritäminen is a Finnish term that generally refers to the process of extracting or recovering pyrites. Pyrites, commonly known as fool's gold, are iron sulfide minerals with the chemical formula FeS2. Historically, pyrites held significance not primarily for their metallic value but as a source of sulfur dioxide. This compound was crucial for the production of sulfuric acid, a fundamental industrial chemical.

The process of pyritäminen would involve mining operations to extract pyrites from ore bodies. Once extracted, the pyrites would undergo further processing, which could include crushing, grinding, and concentration to separate them from other minerals.
