Puudusena is a small borough located in Pärnu County in southwestern Estonia, approximately 12 kilometres north of the city of Pärnu and 35 kilometres from Tallinn. The settlement sits on the western shore of Lake Puusjärv, surrounded by mixed coniferous and deciduous forest. According to the most recent census conducted in 2021, Puudusena has a population of 843 residents, with a population density of roughly 28 persons per square kilometre.

The earliest recorded mention of Puudusena dates back to an 18th‑century tax register, which listed it as a minor estate of the local nobility. During the 19th century, the construction of a narrow‑gauge railway line connected Puudusena to larger market towns, stimulating modest commercial activity. After Estonia regained independence in 1991, the borough experienced a gradual shift from agriculture and forestry toward service-oriented enterprises and small‑scale manufacturing.

The local economy remains largely based on the surrounding natural resources. Timber extraction and processing comprise a significant portion of employment, complemented by a modest fishing industry centred on Lake Puusjärv. In recent years, tourism has been promoted through the development of eco‑lodging accommodations and guided nature walks.

Culturally, Puudusena is known for its annual Harvest Festival, which celebrates local produce, traditional crafts, and folk music. The community hall hosts regular cultural events, while a small museum chronicles the history of the region, including its settlement patterns, forestry practices, and local folklore.
