Pushfits, also known as push-to-connect fittings or quick-connect fittings, are a type of connector used in plumbing and pneumatic systems to join tubes or pipes without the need for soldering, crimping, or gluing. The mechanism typically involves a collet or gripping ring that secures the tube within the fitting. As the tube is inserted, the collet grips its outer surface, preventing it from being pulled out. A sealing element, often an O-ring, creates a tight seal against the tube to prevent leaks. To disconnect, the collet is usually actuated by pushing a release button or collar, which disengages the grip and allows the tube to be withdrawn.

Pushfit fittings are commonly made from various materials, including plastics like acetal resin and polypropylene, or metals such as brass and stainless steel, depending on the application and the fluid being conveyed. They are available in a wide range of configurations, including straight connectors, elbows, tees, and reducers, to accommodate different system designs.

Their primary advantages are speed of installation, simplicity, and the elimination of specialized tools or skills. This makes them popular for DIY projects, temporary installations, and situations where frequent disassembly and reassembly are required.
