Purustustest, or crushing test, is a mechanical test used to determine a material’s resistance to crushing under uniaxial compression. The specimen is then placed in a universal testing machine, and load is applied monotonically at a controlled rate until failure occurs. The peak load is recorded and used to calculate compressive strength by dividing the maximum load by the specimen’s cross-sectional area (for a cylinder, area is πd²/4; for a cube, area is a²). The mode of failure and any crack patterns are also noted.

Results from purustustest provide data for quality control, material specification, and structural design. They help compare materials, validate performance criteria, and calibrate numerical models.
