The publish-consume pattern, also known as the publish-subscribe pattern or pub/sub, is a messaging pattern where senders of messages, called publishers, do not directly send messages to specific receivers, called subscribers. Instead, publishers categorize messages into classes or types without knowledge of which subscribers, if any, exist. Similarly, subscribers express interest in one or more classes of messages and receive only the messages that are of interest, without knowledge of which publishers, if any, are sending them.
This decoupling is achieved through an intermediary, often referred to as a message broker or event bus.
