Psykografista is a term of Finnish origin that translates to "psychographist" or "graphologist." Historically, it referred to someone who practiced graphology, the analysis of handwriting to understand personality traits, mental states, or even predict future events. This practice was more prevalent in the early to mid-20th century and was sometimes used in fields like personnel selection or even criminal investigations, though its scientific validity has been widely questioned.

Graphology, as practiced by psykografistas, involves examining various aspects of handwriting, including the slant, pressure, size, spacing, and formation of letters. Proponents believed that these characteristics offered insights into a person's character, emotional stability, intelligence, and other psychological attributes. However, numerous scientific studies have failed to establish a reliable correlation between handwriting features and personality traits. The scientific community generally regards graphology as a pseudoscience.

While the term "psykografista" might still be encountered, particularly in older texts or in discussions of historical beliefs about handwriting analysis, it is not a recognized profession in contemporary psychology or forensics.
