A psychographist is an individual who claims to be able to interpret a person's personality, character, and future potential based on their handwriting. This practice is a form of graphology, which is the analysis of handwriting to determine personality traits. Psychographists often examine various aspects of handwriting, such as the slant, size, pressure, spacing, and specific letter formations, believing that these features are indicative of underlying psychological states and tendencies.

The practice of psychographism is not recognized as a scientific discipline by the mainstream academic community. Psychological assessments are typically conducted using standardized and empirically validated methods, such as psychological testing, interviews, and behavioral observation. While some proponents of psychographism assert its validity, empirical research has largely failed to establish a reliable or consistent correlation between handwriting characteristics and personality traits or predictive accuracy.

Consequently, psychographists operate outside the realm of conventional psychology and are often considered pseudoscientists. Their methods are not subject to the rigorous peer review and validation processes that characterize scientific inquiry. Nonetheless, psychographism continues to be practiced by some individuals who believe in its efficacy, often in informal settings or as a form of entertainment.
