Pseudovoimat, also known as fictitious forces or inertial forces, are apparent forces that arise in non-inertial frames of reference. An inertial frame of reference is one that is not accelerating; in such a frame, Newton's laws of motion hold true. However, when an observer is in an accelerating frame, such as a car that is braking or turning, or a rotating merry-go-round, they perceive forces that are not due to any real physical interaction with other objects. These perceived forces are called pseudovoimat.

There are several common types of pseudovoimat. The centrifugal force is experienced in rotating frames and appears to push objects outwards. The Coriolis force is also observed in rotating frames and affects objects moving within them, causing a deflection from a straight path. In a linearly accelerating frame, an object might seem to be pushed in the direction opposite to the acceleration; this is often referred to as the inertial force or d'Alembert force.

Pseudovoimat are not real forces in the sense that they do not arise from the fundamental forces of nature like gravity, electromagnetism, or the nuclear forces. Instead, they are a consequence of the observer's choice of a non-inertial reference frame. When analyzing motion from an inertial frame, pseudovoimat are not present. They are a useful mathematical tool for simplifying calculations within accelerating frames, allowing Newton's laws to be applied formally, albeit with the inclusion of these apparent forces.
