Przemysł, in Polish, denotes the sector of an economy that produces tangible goods through the transformation of raw materials, energy, and information. The term covers a wide range of activities, including mining and metallurgy, chemicals, textiles, food processing, machinery, automotive manufacturing, electronics, construction materials, and related services such as logistics, maintenance, and industrial design. The modern concept of industry has grown through mechanization, electrification, automation, and increasingly digital technologies.

Historically, industrial development in Poland accelerated in the 19th century, with strong activity in regions like Silesia and Lesser Poland in mining, steel, and heavy industry. The interwar period and the postwar era saw continued expansion under state-led planning, followed by restructuring after 1989 as Poland transitioned to a market economy. Integration with European and global markets shaped the current industrial landscape and promoted modernization, efficiency improvements, and a shift toward high-value manufacturing.
