Propyleeniglykoliini, also known as 1,2-propanediol, is a synthetic organic compound with the chemical formula C3H8O2. It is a viscous, colorless liquid that is nearly odorless but has a faintly sweet taste. Propyleeniglykoliini is miscible with water, acetone, and chloroform.

It is produced industrially through the hydration of propylene oxide. One of the primary uses of propyleeniglykoliini is as an ingredient in food, cosmetics, and pharmaceuticals. In food, it functions as a humectant, solvent, and preservative, and is found in products such as baked goods, ice cream, and beverages. In cosmetics and personal care products, it acts as a moisturizer, solvent, and viscosity-decreasing agent, appearing in lotions, shampoos, and toothpaste.

Industrially, propyleeniglykoliini is a key component in the production of unsaturated polyester resins, which are used in fiberglass-reinforced plastics, coatings, and adhesives. It also finds application as a de-icing fluid for aircraft and runways, as a heat transfer fluid in secondary cooling systems, and as a solvent for flavorings and fragrances.

While generally recognized as safe (GRAS) by regulatory bodies for consumption in moderate amounts, very high doses can lead to central nervous system depression. Dermal exposure is typically well-tolerated, though some individuals may experience mild irritation.
