Projektort is a device that projects an image or video onto a screen or flat surface. In contemporary use, projektorter are mainly digital projectors designed to display computer or video signals, though historically there were slide projectors and overhead projectors. They are used in classrooms, offices, home theaters, and entertainment venues.

Most projektorter rely on one of three imaging technologies: LCD (liquid crystal display), DLP (digital light processing), or LCOS (liquid crystal on silicon). The light source can be a traditional lamp, LED, or laser, with LED and laser options offering longer lifespans and often improved color and efficiency. Image quality is described by brightness (lumens), resolution (from SVGA and XGA up to 4K), contrast, and color accuracy. Modern units may include features such as optical zoom, keystone correction, and lens shift to adjust the image without moving the projector.

Key specifications include throw distance and throw ratio, which determine how large a picture is at a given distance. Short-throw and ultra-short-throw projektorter can produce large images from close to the screen. Connectivity typically includes HDMI, VGA, USB, and sometimes wireless interfaces, along with built-in speakers. Maintenance considerations cover cooling, filter cleaning, and lamp or light-source replacement.

Common applications span education, corporate presentations, home cinema, and event display. Environmental considerations include energy consumption and proper disposal of old lamps containing hazardous materials.
