Projectoras, also known as projectors, are optical devices that project an image or moving images onto a surface, most commonly a screen. These devices have a long history, with early forms dating back to the magic lantern in the 17th century. Modern projectors utilize various technologies to achieve image projection, with the most common being Liquid Crystal Display (LCD) and Digital Light Processing (DLP).

LCD projectors use three LCD panels, one each for red, green, and blue light. These panels modulate the light passing through them, and the colored light is then combined to form the final image. DLP projectors, on the other hand, use a single chip containing millions of tiny mirrors. These mirrors tilt rapidly to reflect light either towards the lens or away from it, creating the image. Other technologies include LED projectors, which use light-emitting diodes as their light source, offering advantages in lifespan and energy efficiency.

Projectors are used in a wide range of applications. In education, they are essential for presenting lectures and visual aids in classrooms and lecture halls. In business, they are used for presentations, meetings, and training sessions. Home theater enthusiasts employ projectors to create a cinematic experience in their living rooms. They are also found in entertainment venues, museums, and for large-scale events like concerts and sporting events. The image quality of a projector is determined by factors such as resolution, brightness (measured in lumens), contrast ratio, and color accuracy.
