Preencased is an adjective describing an item that has been enclosed within a protective case, housing, or packaging before a subsequent process or distribution. The term is common in manufacturing and supply chains to indicate that enclosure was completed upstream.

Common uses include preencased components in electronics and machinery, where a sensor or module arrives with its protective housing already assembled. In packaging, products may be distributed in preencased form to reduce handling, protect contents, and simplify downstream assembly or installation. In construction and industrial contexts, cables, conduits, and specialized instruments are sometimes supplied preencased to meet environmental, regulatory, or safety requirements. In agriculture and biotechnology, preencased coatings or encapsulations are applied to seeds, microbes, or active ingredients to control release and protect viability.

Advantages include shortened assembly time, standardized protection, and improved contamination control. Limitations include higher unit costs, reduced flexibility for customization, and longer lead times for manufacture or delivery.
