pramanaspratyaksa
Pramanaspratyaksa, often shortened to pratyaksa, is a fundamental concept in Indian philosophy, particularly within the Nyaya school. It refers to direct perception, the knowledge gained through the senses. This type of pramana, or means of valid knowledge, is considered the most immediate and indubitable form of cognition.
Pratyaksa is typically understood as involving the interaction of a sense organ with its corresponding object.
There are two main classifications of pratyaksa: ordinary perception (laukika pratyaksa) and extraordinary perception (alaukika pratyaksa).
