Polüuretaanist is an Estonian term referring to polyurethane. Polyurethane is a versatile polymer composed of organic units joined by carbamate (urethane) links. It is formed by the reaction of a polyol with a diisocyanate or a polymeric isocyanate in the presence of catalysts and additives. This reaction results in a wide range of materials, from flexible and rigid foams to durable elastomers and coatings.

Polyurethane coatings offer protection and aesthetic appeal to surfaces like wood, metal, and concrete. Additionally, polyurethane is found in adhesives, sealants, and synthetic fibers. The widespread use of polyurethane is due to its adaptability and the favorable combination of physical and chemical properties it offers.
