Politológia, also known as political science, is the academic discipline dedicated to the study of politics and political systems. It explores the theory and practice of politics, as well as the analysis of political behavior. Political scientists examine power structures, political processes, political institutions, and political behavior at local, national, and international levels. The field encompasses a wide range of sub-disciplines, including comparative politics, international relations, political theory, and public policy.

Comparative politics focuses on the systematic study and comparison of different political systems, governments, and political cultures. International relations deals with the interactions between states, international organizations, non-governmental organizations, and multinational corporations, as well as the study of global issues such as war, peace, and economic development. Political theory, or political philosophy, is concerned with fundamental questions about the nature of politics, justice, liberty, and the ideal political order, often drawing upon historical and philosophical texts. Public policy and public administration analyze the process by which governments make decisions and implement programs to address societal problems.

Politológia uses a variety of research methods, including qualitative approaches like case studies and historical analysis, and quantitative approaches such as statistical modeling and surveys. The ultimate goal of political science is to understand, explain, and sometimes predict political phenomena, contributing to informed citizenship and effective governance.
