Polaritetsbestämning is a Swedish term that translates to "polarity determination" in English. It refers to the process of identifying the electrical polarity of a component or a circuit. This is a fundamental concept in electronics and electrical engineering.

In direct current (DC) circuits, polarity is typically associated with positive and negative terminals. Understanding polarity is crucial for correct component orientation and circuit functioning. For instance, diodes, electrolytic capacitors, and batteries have distinct positive and negative ends, and connecting them incorrectly can lead to damage or malfunction.

For alternating current (AC) circuits, the concept of polarity is less about fixed positive and negative terminals and more about the instantaneous direction of current flow.
