The transition from a glassy, rigid state to a rubbery, flexible state in amorphous polymers occurs at the glass transition temperature (Tg).

Many polymers are semi-crystalline, meaning they contain both crystalline and amorphous regions. The morphology of these regions, including their size, shape, and distribution, plays a crucial role in determining macroscopic properties. For example, the lamellar structures in crystalline regions can be organized into larger spherulites, which are spherical aggregates of radiating lamellae. The size and arrangement of these spherulites can affect the optical and mechanical behavior of the material.
