Plokkpolümeerides are polymers composed of two or more homopolymer blocks. These blocks are chemically bonded together, forming distinct regions within the polymer chain. For example, a simple diblock copolymer consists of block A and block B, where the polymer chain looks like AAAAA-BBBBB. This structure is different from random copolymers, where the monomer units are distributed randomly along the chain, or alternating copolymers, where the monomers strictly alternate.

The properties of plokkpolümeerides are a combination of the properties of their constituent homopolymers, but they can also exhibit unique behaviors due to the microphase separation of the blocks. When the lengths of the blocks are comparable, the immiscible blocks will tend to separate into distinct nanodomains.
