Plasmanäyttö, also known as a plasma display panel (PDP), is a type of flat panel display technology that was popular for televisions and large monitors in the early 2000s. It works by using small cells containing electrically charged ionized gases, or plasma, which are typically mixtures of noble gases like neon and xenon. When an electrical voltage is applied across these cells, the gas within them is excited and glows, emitting ultraviolet light. This UV light then strikes phosphors coated on the inside of the display, causing them to emit visible light in red, green, or blue colors, which combine to form the image seen on the screen.
