Planarisoitu refers to a surface or layer that has been made planar, meaning flat and featureless in terms of topography, by removing height variations or by filling uneven features to achieve uniform thickness. Planarization is a common step in microfabrication and related fields where subsequent processing, such as photolithography or thin-film deposition, requires a smooth, level surface to ensure accurate patterning and consistent film properties.

The most widely used method is chemical mechanical planarization (CMP), which combines controlled mechanical polishing with a chemical slurry to remove material and produce a flat surface. Other methods include chemical polishing, mechanical polishing, and the application of planarizing layers—such as spin-on glass or dielectric polymers—that fill surface irregularities before a final polishing step or etching, thereby achieving planarity.

Planarisoitu surfaces are essential in semiconductor manufacturing for integrated circuits and MEMS, where multiple interconnect and dielectric layers must be coplanar to maintain device performance and lithography fidelity. They are also important in solar cell fabrication, display technologies, and advanced packaging, where flatness improves coating uniformity, adhesion, and optical or electrical characteristics.

Common challenges in planarization include controlling surface roughness, dishing and erosion during polishing, particle contamination, and material selectivity between layers. Achieving uniform planarity across large wafers requires careful process optimization, tooling, and metrology to monitor surface topography and thickness uniformity.
