This value is typically greater than or equal to one. For vacuum, εr is exactly 1. For all other materials, εr > 1. The absolute permittivity is calculated as ε = εr * ε0. The permittivity of free space, ε0, is a physical constant approximately equal to 8.854 x 10⁻¹² F/m (farads per meter).

Permittivity plays a crucial role in various electrical and electronic applications.
