Perinata is a plant genus within the family Nyctaginaceae, native to tropical Americas. The genus Perinata consists of five species. These species are primarily found in countries such as Mexico, Costa Rica, and Colombia.

The plant is characterized by its ovate or cordate leaves, frequently lobed or toothed. Leaves are often covered with white, orange or yellowish hairs. Perinata plants are currently listed as endangered due to habitat destruction and over-expansion of urban areas leading to their marginal habitats being cleared for construction.

Perinata species vary in their growth habits. Some are low-growing shrubs, growing between two and six feet tall. Others may grow as vines or flowing ground covers. Flowers range from 2-5cm in diameter and are purple, reddish, or rare white. They are radially symmetrical, displaying five lobes. Some species of Perinata have been found to be of use in traditional medicine in regions where the plant is native.

The plants in the Perinata genus are often used by ornamental plant collectors. In general, the plants fitting into this genus are preferred for their unique foliage and bright decorative flowers. Perinata has different planting requirements and grows in various environments, often encountered in tropical zones with warm temperatures.
