Perfils is the Catalan term for profiles, referring to structured collections of attributes that describe an entity for identification, interaction, and personalization in various contexts. In digital systems, a perfil typically represents a user or an organization and serves as the basis for authentication, authorization, and service customization.

Content and scope: A perfil usually includes an identifier (such as a username or ID), contact details, demographic information, preferences, and behavioral data. Depending on the platform, it may also store security credentials, permissions, and activity history. In many systems, perfils are designed to be portable and interoperable through standard formats such as JSON or XML, and may be described with metadata schemes used on the web.

Types: Perfils can be digital user profiles, organizational or enterprise profiles, device profiles, and anonymized or pseudonymous profiles used for research or analytics. Profiles may be public or private, with varying levels of access and visibility based on privacy settings and consent.

Management: Perfils are created by users or organizations, updated over time, and deleted or deactivated as needed. Data governance practices, consent management, and respect for data portability rights are important, particularly under privacy regulations such as the GDPR or similar laws elsewhere.

Uses: Perfils support authentication, authorization, personalization of content and recommendations, targeted marketing, and analytics. Profiling enables tailored experiences but also raises privacy and discrimination concerns, so transparency and data minimization are recommended.
