Penkkarit, also known as penkkari or penkkis, is a Finnish tradition celebrated by high school seniors, or "lukion viimeinen vuosikurssi," typically in February. It marks the end of their final year of upper secondary education and the approaching matriculation examination. The celebrations involve a day of activities that are often a playful and boisterous departure from normal school routines.

A central element of penkkarit is the "penkkarit ride." Students, often dressed in costumes representing various themes, ride on decorated trucks or flatbed lorries through their towns. During these rides, they throw candy and small gifts to onlookers, creating a festive atmosphere. The trucks are often adorned with slogans and satirical commentary related to school life, teachers, and current events.

In addition to the truck parade, penkkarit activities can include "kaverikuvat," where students take photos with their friends, and various pranks targeting younger students or teachers. Some schools organize an evening party or event to conclude the day's festivities. The tradition is a significant rite of passage for Finnish youth, symbolizing their transition from student life to the next stage of their lives, whether it be higher education or entering the workforce.
