Parcela is a term used in several Romance languages to describe a defined portion of land or other asset. In real estate and land administration, a parcela refers to a plot or lot with legally recognized boundaries that is map-ready for ownership, transfer, and taxation. In English, the closest equivalents are parcel or plot.

In cadastral and property-record practices, each parcela is assigned a unique parcel number and recorded in land registries or cadastres. The size and shape are defined by measured boundaries, sometimes shown with geographic coordinates on maps. Parcels are used for property transactions, development planning, taxation, and the delineation of rights such as easements and restrictions. Zoning regulations and land-use rules may constrain how a parcel can be developed or utilized.

Etymology and usage: parcela originates from French parcelle, a diminutive of parc or parcel, tracing back to Latin pars meaning “part.” In Portuguese and Spanish, the term commonly denotes a plot of land, but in Portuguese it can also mean a portion or share of a larger asset, and in both languages it may refer to installments or payments (parcela de pagamento) in financial contexts.
