Pansexuality is a sexual orientation characterized by the capacity to be attracted to people of any gender identity. This attraction is not limited by sex, gender, or gender identity. Individuals who identify as pansexual may be attracted to men, women, transgender people, non-binary people, and others who fall outside of traditional gender categories. The prefix "pan" comes from the Greek word meaning "all."

The experience of pansexuality can differ from bisexuality, though there is overlap and some individuals may use both terms or prefer one over the other. Bisexuality is often defined as attraction to two or more genders, or attraction to genders similar to and different from one's own. Pansexuality, by contrast, emphasizes attraction regardless of gender. Some pansexual individuals feel that their attraction is to the person themselves, rather than their gender.

Pansexuality is recognized as a distinct sexual orientation by many LGBTQ+ organizations and advocates. It highlights the diversity of human attraction and challenges traditional notions of gender and sexuality. Like any sexual orientation, pansexuality is about who a person is attracted to, and it does not dictate a person's behavior or preferences in relationships.
