Paberitöötlust refers to the processes involved in transforming raw materials into paper products and subsequently shaping them into various forms. This encompasses a wide range of activities, from the initial pulping of wood or recycled fibers to the formation of paper sheets and the finishing stages that create usable items.

The fundamental step in paper production is the creation of pulp. This is typically achieved by breaking down cellulosic materials, such as wood chips or waste paper, into a fibrous slurry using mechanical or chemical means. This pulp is then mixed with water and various additives to impart specific properties like strength, brightness, and water resistance.

The pulp slurry is then spread onto a fine mesh screen, where water drains away, leaving a mat of intertwined fibers. This mat is pressed and dried, forming a continuous sheet of paper. Subsequent processes may include calendering to smooth the surface, coating to improve printability, and slitting or cutting to create rolls or sheets of desired dimensions.
