Ossessiva is the feminine singular form of the Italian adjective ossessivo, used to describe thoughts, behaviors or traits that are persistently preoccupying or fixated. In everyday and professional language it conveys a sense of excessive or intrusive focus on a person, idea or activity, often to a disruptive degree.

Etymology and usage. The term derives from a Latin-rooted word that entered Italian through broader European medical and psychological vocabulary.
