oreganoa
Oreganoa is a common name for several aromatic herbs in the mint family (Lamiaceae). While often used interchangeably, the term "oreganoa" can specifically refer to species within the genus Origanum, most notably Origanum vulgare, also known as wild marjoram. This plant is native to the Mediterranean region and western Eurasia. It is a perennial herb that grows to be about 20-80 centimeters tall with ovate leaves that are typically 1-4 centimeters long. The flowers are usually pink or purple and bloom during the summer months.
The characteristic flavor and aroma of oreganoa are due to its essential oils, primarily carvacrol and thymol.
