Omsekvensering is a term used in genetics and molecular biology to describe the process of sequencing a genome, or a significant portion of it, that has already been sequenced. This might be done to identify new variants, confirm previous findings, or study changes in the genome over time. It is not about sequencing a new genome from scratch, but rather revisiting and re-examining existing genetic data.

There are several reasons why omsekvensering might be performed. For instance, a research project might have initially sequenced a set of genomes, and then later, with improved sequencing technology or a deeper understanding of a particular disease, they might decide to re-sequence those same genomes to detect subtle mutations or structural variations that were missed in the initial analysis.
