Because it is a fictional concept, properties attributed to omastele vary by source.

In many world-building or game settings, omastele is described as a dense, iridescent crystalline mineral with high energy density and exceptional thermal stability. Some depictions grant it superconductive-like electrical conductivity or the capacity to store large amounts of energy within its lattice, making it valuable for power systems, propulsion, or protective gear in imaginative environments. Its rarity and difficulty of extraction frequently drive plot points about trade, politics, or technological progress.

Formation and geography are also highly variable. Some writers place omastele formation in extreme deep-earth conditions, others in ancient asteroid belts or near geothermal vents. Hazards surrounding mining can include seismic activity, toxic vapors, or volatile reactions when exposed to certain elements.

Purity grades, refining techniques, and market dynamics are sometimes developed within fan wikis or game manuals, but there is no canonical standard.
