Measurements are designed to be instrument-independent where possible, and results are described with uncertainty and limitations. Yet objectivity is acknowledged as an ideal rather than a guaranteed state, since theories, instruments, and interpretations can influence what is observed and how results are framed.

In journalism and public discourse, objectivity refers to fair, accurate reporting, verification of facts, and independence from political or commercial pressures. Achieving neutrality requires balancing information, acknowledging uncertainties, and disclosing sources, though complete neutrality may be contested in controversial topics.

Philosophically, debates ask whether objectivity is possible given subjectivity, language, and culture.
