Näyttörajapinnat, often translated as display interfaces, are hardware connections that allow a computer or other digital device to send visual information to a display. These interfaces translate digital signals into analog or digital signals that a monitor, projector, or television can interpret and show as an image. Different generations of technology have introduced various types of display interfaces, each offering improvements in resolution, refresh rate, color depth, and data transfer speed.

Common examples include VGA (Video Graphics Array), which is an older analog standard, DVI (Digital Visual Interface), which can carry both analog and digital signals, and HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface), a widely used digital interface for transmitting high-definition video and audio. DisplayPort is another modern digital interface that offers high bandwidth and supports features like daisy-chaining multiple monitors. USB-C is also increasingly being used as a display interface, often supporting DisplayPort Alternate Mode.

The choice of display interface depends on the capabilities of both the source device and the display, as well as the desired video quality and features. Newer interfaces generally support higher resolutions like 4K and 8K, faster refresh rates crucial for gaming and smooth motion, and advanced features such as HDR (High Dynamic Range) for better contrast and color. Compatibility between devices is also a key consideration, as older devices may only support older interface standards.
