Närtsimustele refers to the phenomenon of wilting in plants. This loss of rigidity in plant parts, most commonly leaves and stems, is a visible sign of water stress. This loss of turgor pressure, the internal pressure exerted by water against the cell walls, causes the plant to droop.

However, overwatering can also lead to wilting if it waterlogs the soil, preventing roots from accessing oxygen, which is crucial for water absorption.
