Nykyissä, which translates to "nowadays" in Finnish, is a term used in Finland to describe the current modern era. The word often carries a sense of infamy and shame, conveyed by its verb form which carries an essentially negative connotation. Nykyisitys is one of the many terms in the Finnish language which have similarly pejorative connotations.
