Nonhomosexual is a term used to describe individuals who do not identify as homosexual. This umbrella term encompasses people who are heterosexual (attracted to people of the opposite sex) as well as individuals who are bisexual (attracted to more than one sex) or pansexual (attracted to people regardless of sex or gender). It is important to note that the term "nonhomosexual" is primarily used in contrast to "homosexual" and is not a primary identity for most people.

The vast majority of the global population identifies as heterosexual, meaning their sexual orientation is directed towards individuals of the opposite sex. Historically, heterosexuality has often been considered the default or normative sexual orientation in many societies. This societal perspective has influenced cultural norms, legal frameworks, and social expectations for centuries.

Bisexuality and pansexuality are also included under the nonhomosexual umbrella. Bisexual individuals experience attraction to both men and women, while pansexual individuals may be attracted to people of any gender identity. These orientations recognize a broader spectrum of attraction than solely opposite-sex attraction.
