nitrosoidut

Nitrosoidut is a term encountered in some non-English sources to denote nitroso compounds or nitrosoid species. In general usage, it refers to chemical species that bear nitroso-related functionalities, most commonly the nitroso group (a nitrogen bound to an oxygen with a double bond, N=O) or closely related N–O moieties. The term is not a standardized IUPAC category in major English-language literature, but it appears in certain Finnish- and other language sources to describe a broad class of nitrosylated or nitrosated compounds.

Chemically, nitrosoidut encompasses a variety of structures, including N-nitrosamines, nitroso ketones or aldehydes (alpha-nitroso carbonyl compounds), nitrosyl esters, and aryl nitroso derivatives. These species are typically reactive, with behavior governed by the stability of the N–N=O or related linkages. Some nitrosoid compounds are relatively stable under ambient conditions, while others are prone to decomposition or can release reactive nitrogen species under light or heat.
