Nickle brass, also spelled nickel brass, is a copper-based alloy in the brass family that includes nickel and zinc as principal alloying elements. The exact composition varies by producer, but nickel brass is generally designed to yield a warm, gold-like color and improved tarnish resistance compared with ordinary brass. In most formulations, copper remains the major constituent, with zinc as a significant component and nickel added in smaller amounts to influence color, durability, and corrosion resistance.

Properties of nickel brass include good ductility and formability, allowing it to be easily rolled, drawn, stamped, or machined. It is typically non-magnetic and offers suitable mechanical strength for many decorative and functional applications. The alloy can be worked by conventional metalworking methods and responds well to annealing, which restores ductility after forming. Finishes range from bright polished surfaces to plated or treated looks, and its color can be adjusted with surface coatings or different alloy grades.

Manufacturing and availability vary, with different grades optimized for casting or wrought forms. Some grades are formulated to be readily solderable or weldable, while others emphasize wear resistance and corrosion resistance in outdoor or humid environments. Nickel brass can be produced in sheet, bar, tube, and casting forms, expanding its use across industries.

Applications of nickel brass include decorative hardware, architectural trim, fittings and fasteners, jewelry components, and certain musical instrument parts where a warmer color is preferred over pure yellow brass. It is sometimes used in coinage in some regions when a distinct, durable yellowish alloy is desired. The term should not be confused with nickel silver or cupronickel, which are different copper-nickel-zinc alloys.
