Neformalnost, or informality, is the quality or condition characterized by the absence of formal rules, procedures, or attire. In South Slavic languages such as Serbian, Croatian and Bosnian, the noun neformalnost is formed with the negation prefix ne- attached to formalnost (formality). It is used to describe social behavior, linguistic styles, and organizational practices that operate outside official norms.
