Necrotizarea is a medical term referring to the process of cell death that occurs in living tissue. It is an irreversible process caused by a variety of factors, including injury, infection, lack of blood supply, or exposure to toxins. Unlike apoptosis, which is programmed cell death, necrotizare is an uncontrolled and messy event.

When cells undergo necrotizare, they swell and their membranes rupture, releasing their contents into the surrounding tissue. This release can trigger an inflammatory response, leading to pain, redness, and swelling. The dead cells and inflammatory debris can accumulate, forming an eschar or necrotic tissue.

Several types of necrotizare exist, each with distinct characteristics. For example, coagulative necrotizare, common in ischemic conditions like heart attacks, preserves the basic outline of the dead cells. Liquefactive necrotizare, often seen in bacterial infections like abscesses, results in a liquid mass of dead cells and pus. Caseous necrotizare, characteristic of tuberculosis, appears cheesy and crumbly. Fat necrotizare occurs specifically in fatty tissues, such as the pancreas, where it can lead to the formation of saponified fat. Gangrenous necrotizare is a more general term often used for necrotizare of a limb, typically due to lack of blood supply.

The management of necrotizare depends on its cause and extent. It often involves addressing the underlying condition, such as restoring blood flow, treating infection, or removing the offending agent. Necrotic tissue itself may need to be surgically debrided to prevent further complications like infection and to promote healing.
