Treatment for myopathy depends on the underlying cause. For inherited myopathies, there is often no cure, but treatments may focus on managing symptoms and improving quality of life. This can include physical therapy to maintain muscle strength and function, occupational therapy to help with daily activities, and medications to manage pain or inflammation. Acquired myopathies may be treated by addressing the underlying cause, such as by treating an infection or managing an autoimmune condition. Research into new therapies for myopathies is ongoing.
